Details emerge in sudden death of ex-QMJHL goalie Creed Jones
The young goaltender was just 24 years of age.
The hockey world continues to mourn after the shocking death of former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League goaltender Creed Jones following a motorcycle accident; he was only 24 years of age.
And now, more details behind the accident have been made public. According to CBC, Jones wasn't the only one who lost his life in thetragic incident:
"Former Oceanic goaltender, Creed Jones, tragically died at the age of 24 following a motorcycle accident on Friday night on Highway 417 in the Ottawa region. His host families in Rimouski are in shock.
According to the CBC, Jones was traveling westbound shortly before midnight. He reportedly collided with another motorcyclist, aged 27, in a ramp. He also died in the tragedy."
The sad announcement was made on social media by Jones' former club, the Gatineau Olympiques.
“It is with great sadness that the Gatineau Olympiques organization has learned of the passing of one of our alumni, Creed Jones,” said the Olympiques on X. “Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
Prior to suiting up for the Olympiques, Jones played three seasons with the Wellington Dukes of the OJHL. He would also play for Rimouski Oceanic and the Saint John Sea Dogs along with the University of Ottawa.
According to local hockey skills and development proprietor Dan Tessier, Jones had a need for speed with his Honda CBR performance motorcycle.
“He lived on the edge. He was always riding his motorcycle at the highest speeds. I always told him he had to let it go. We told him so many times, and he always laughed it off,” he said. “He thrived on speed.”
