Kevin Klein will play at least one more season.

One week ago New York Rangers' defenseman Kevin Klein announced his retirement from the National Hockey League, at least in part due to serious issues with his back, and it seemed like his professional hockey career was at an end.
In a surprising twist however Klein has now reportedly signed a new one-year contract with ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League, indicating that he will continue to play hockey for one more season.
This now brings into question why Klein would retire from the NHL if he did indeed intend to continue his pro hockey career, he had one more year left on his deal with the Rangers at $2.9 million after all.
Klein's final moments with the Rangers were ugly, with him receiving very limited playing time and more often than not being a health scratch, while this is merely speculation, perhaps Klein wanted to finish off his career with a more significant role on a team.
