Derek Ryan appears to call out Oilers offensive players!
Things aren't going well in Edmonton.

Despite superstar Connor McDavid having already reached the 30 goal threshold before the start of the new calendar year, the Edmonton Oilers currently find themselves on the outside looking in at a postseason spot. Their defensive and goaltending woes haven't exactly been a secret, as goaltender Jack Campbell has failed to even remotely live up to the $25 million deal he signed during the offseason.
The Oilers are currently in the bottom 1/3 of the NHL in total goals against average, and were on the losing end of another disappointing finish on December 23 against the Canadian rival Vancouver Canucks, who scored five unanswered tallies at Rogers Place.
And it wasn't long afterward that grinding forward Derek Ryan said out loud what most others are thinking - the Oilers have no problem scoring goals, but need to work more as a team on keeping the puck out of their own net. And he made a point to say that the forwards are part of it.
"I saw the same thing as you. I don't think scoring goals is the problem here," he said. "I've said that a million times. We've got to work on playing defence, and that's not the defencemen, that's the forwards, everybody."
While both McDavid and Draisaitl possess otherworldly offensive talent, it's no secret that their defensive game could certainly stand to use some work.
