Defenseman lone man placed on waivers, Saturday.
There is only one player available on waivers today, a right shot defenseman from the New Jersey Devils.
New Jersey Devils defenseman Nick Desimone is a man on an island all to himself today.
According to a report from National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman, the New Jersey Devils were the only team active on waivers today. The Devils have placed the aforementioned Desimone on waivers and he will now be eligible for a claim by any rival team in the NHL.
This will mark the second time this season that Desimone has been placed on waivers with the first coming at the end of NHL training camps. At that time Desimone was not claimed by any rival teams but that is a period of the season where most teams are looking to subtract from their rosters so that comes as relatively no surprise. This time however teams in need of defensive help may be more inclined to look Desimone's way.
That being said it will be relatively difficult to get a read on the player with Desimone not appearing in a single game at the NHL level for the Devils despite being on their roster. Desimone has however appeared in 12 games this season for the American Hockey League's Utica comets where he has no goals and 3 assists for a total of 3 points, boasting a plus minus rating of -10 at the AHL level.
Desimone only has 38 games of combined NHL experience over his professional hockey career, most of which came as a member of the Calgary Flames last season where he had 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points over a 23 game span.
We won't know if a team submits a claim until tomorrow, so stay tuned for more on this one.
