David Perron hints at future with Red Wings
Will the veteran forward return for a 3rd season?

It was a moment of pure elation for Detroit Red Wings forward David Perron late in regulation of the 82nd game of the regular season, as he scored with just 3.3 seconds remaining on Montreal Canadiens goaltender Cayden Primeau to keep Detroit's postseason hopes alive.
Unfortunately, the jubilation experienced by Perron and his teammates was short-lived. Just moments later, their playoff hopes were dashed when Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie sealed the game with an empty-net goal late in regulation, breaking a 1-1 tie against the Philadelphia Flyers. With this loss, Washington secured the final Wild Card spot in the postseason, leaving the Detroit Red Wings on the outside looking in for the eighth consecutive year.
"It's frustrating, the way it ended, with all the comebacks we had to keep our season alive," said Perron earlier today. "I think one minute after I scored [the tying goal against the Canadiens in the third period], not even, 45 seconds, we're sitting on the bench and then find out the Flyers have their goalie pulled."
"I would love to find out the timeline of all this, but not long after, Oshie scored on the empty net, and at that point we knew our season was over."
As far as his future is concerned with the Red Wings, Perron admitted that he wants to be back in Detroit next season, but also understands that the nature of the business may make that not possible.
"I think the team wants me back, I want to be back, so let's see what happens in the next little while," he said.
"At the same time, I understand it's a business. A couple years ago I thought for sure I would stay in St. Louis and it didn't work out so I opened my eyes to something different, I really enjoyed my time here."
