David Pastrnak scores gold medal-winning goal on home soil!
A truly massive moment for the Boston Bruins star forward, leading his country to a gold medal on home soil.
Oh what a day it must be for Boston Bruins star forward David Pastrnak who is undoubtedly surrounded by jubilant countrymen right now in Prague.
Pastrnak may be coming fresh off of disappointment in the Stanley Cup playoffs after being eliminated alongside his Boston Bruins in the second round of the playoffs by the Florida Panthers, but boy oh boy did Pastrnak ever create one heck of a silver lining for himself on Sunday.
The Bruins being eliminated gave Pastrnak the opportunity to represent his country at the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Championship, and that is exactly what he did. On Sunday, Pastrnak and his fellow Czechs took on Sweden in the Gold Medal game and it was an especially big moment for the Czechs as the game was hosted in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.
To no one's surprise it would be Pastrnak who would prove to be the hero, breaking the ice midway through the game's third period with the Swede's never able to respond.
Although Pastrnak's goal proved to be the game winner, Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf would add an empty net goal for insurance later in the period.
