Boston Bruins forward David Krejci became the second major retirement announcement in Boston this offseason, as his fellow veteran and longtime teammate Patrice Bergeron made it official late last month with his announcement that his playing days were through.

Needless to say, the Bruins team that hits the ice this fall is going to be looking considerably different than the team that skated off in shocking defeat after Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals against the Florida Panthers. And now, the two main figures for the B's are David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand.

For Pastrnak, he had a touching tribute for his now-former teammate on social media.

“Best teammate that I ever had, and I can’t thank you enough,” Pastrnak said in a tribute message posted on the Bruins’ social media feeds. “But again, congratulations, and good luck in your next chapter of your life. He’s been my best friend since I got here. I’m really going to miss him. I have so many memories that make me think of him, especially. And that’s the beauty of hockey — I found a friend for the rest of my life … in 20-30 years from now, he’s still going to be my friend and that’s the beauty of the sport.”

Like Bergeron, Krejci has been known as a highly respected player who will leave a considerable void behind.
