The Toronto Maple Leafs currently aren't playing any hockey games but in spite of that one of their players has been injured.

Earlier today Stephen Ellis, who has done terrific work covering the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Championship of hockey, broke the news that Maple Leafs forward Davis Kampf was being held out of today's game between his home country of Czechia and Finland.

At the time there was no stated reason for Kampf being pulled out of the lineup, but with the passing of time a clearer picture has begun to emerge with early reports now suggesting that Kampf has suffered some kind of injury at the tournament.

Maple Leafs reporter David Alter was the first to break the news of an injury, but according to Alter it sounds as though the injury is believed to be a relatively minor one. That being said the specific details of Kampf's injury have yet to be reported and therefore there's no indication of how long the injury may keep him sidelined for at the tournament.

Kampf's injury is not expected to impact him for the 2024-25 National Hockey League regular season.

Kampf appeared in 78 games for the Maple Leafs last season scoring 8 goals and adding 11 assists for a total of 19 points over that stretch. Next season Kampf will be entering the second year of a 4 year deal that carries an average annual value and cap hit of $2.4 million per season.
