Daniel Sprong announces his new sweater number
He generously gave his #88 to Patrick Kane.

The signing of forward Daniel Sprong by the Detroit Red Wings during this offseason marked a moment in history as he chose to don jersey No. 88, becoming the first player in franchise history to wear that number.
However, with the recent acquisition of 3-time Stanley Cup winner Patrick Kane, who inked a one-year deal with the team, the jersey number has found a new wearer in Kane thanks to Sprong generously surrendering it.
Sprong has decided on a new sweater number, and is going with No. 17, which was last worn by defenseman Filip Hronek prior to his trade to Vancouver last season.
Like the team is hoping that Kane will be, Sprong has proven to be a valuable addition to the Red Wings. As of right now, he's on pace to once again eclipse the 20-goal mark, which would be the second straight season he's done so; he scored 21 last year as a member of the Seattle Kraken.
