Controversy surrounding Evgeni Malkin emerges as insider shuts down latest rumour!
“Good grief, make it stop” begs team insider. Find out what’s been happening for poor Geno and the Penguins:
The Pittsburgh Penguins are not having the best season and are currently sitting in seventh place of the Metropolitan division. Of course, this will lead to rumours, but one emerged last week that got team insider Rob Rossi of The Athletic upset and vehemently shutting down the chatter. Rossi has denied any rumours of Evgeni Malkin being connected to the Dallas Stars, contrary to reports from independent sources that came out in the past few days.
“Last few years it seems like 25 percent of my job is shooting down nonsense about Sidney Crosby leaving Pittsburgh,” the Penguin beat reporter posted. “Annoying. Whatever. Anyway, take what I said about Crosby — it’s never happening — and apply it to Evgeni Malkin. Good grief, make it stop.”
The rumor first surfaced when the Stars were forced to place veteran forward Tyler Seguin on long-term injured reserve. He will be out for the rest of the regular season, freeing up his salary for Dallas to use at the trade deadline and the rumours targeted Malkin.
Ever since he signed a four-year, $24,4 M contract in July 2022 that will expire at the end of the 2025-26 season, Malkin has expressed how badly he hopes to end his career not only in Pittsburgh, but alongside his close friends Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang, even tough general manager Kyle Dubas has already made roster changes amid a rough start to the season.
Both Malkin and Crosby showed their commitment to staying in Pittsburgh and Rossi wants the trade chatter involving both star Penguins to end now.
