Connor Murphy injured in 1st period, helped off the ice.
The Chicago Blackhawks lost defenseman Connor Murphy in the final minutes of the third period.
The Blackhawks did not need another injury but unfortunately it would appear that they have gotten just that in the first period of today's game against the Vancouver Canucks.
Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy has left the game after taking a shot off of his left knee, a one-timer blast from Canucks forward J.T. Miller. The shot ricocheted hard off the knee of Murphy and the pain was immediately etched on his face after he blocked the shot.
Although Murphy would initially remain in the play, the Canucks would eventually score and it would be at that point that Murphy would collapse to the ice. The 30 year old National Hockey League veteran was unable to put any weight on his injured leg from that moment forward and had to be helped off the ice by his teammates.
Murphy hobbled all the way to the Blackhawks locker room, and there has been no official word yet on his status for the remainder of today's game.
