Connor McDavid reveals what’s different in Edmonton this time around!
Will it be enough though?

Connor McDavid is focused and dialled in before there is no way he wants to relive the pain that he felt this past spring when his Edmonton Oilers were ousted in the second round by the eventual Stanley Cup champions Vegas Golden Knights.
This time, he wants to go all way and believes the mindset in the dressing room is different ahead of the 2023-24 season. He says the Oilers have learned from their mistakes.
“I certainly feel that way,” said the captain to the Edmonton Sun. “The old saying is you have to lose to learn how to win. As painful as that is, I feel that is true. You see that with all the teams that win.
“There might be a handful that are an exception, but the majority of teams that win go through those things. It’s very painful, but we’ve gone through a lot of steps and learned a lot of lessons and it’s up to us to put it to good use.”
On top of that, there is a major difference to the Oilers that McDavid felt the need to point out. The captain strongly believes that every single player in his dressing room is ready to go with everyone growing from past experiences and no one is expected to be the young saviour when it matters most.
“Everybody is in their prime, it’s not like we’re waiting on the first-round pick to have an amazing season and come save us and a get us in the playoffs like has been the case sometimes in Edmonton. Everybody is ready to go.”
Let’s see if McDavid, who got his teammates to return to Edmonton two weeks before the start of training camp to participate in informal skates, is right about the Oilers and if the team will make it all the way next summer.
