Claude Giroux’s car gets stolen during game against Toronto!

His wife Ryanne is asking for help:

Chris Gosselin

The Ottawa Senators hosted the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night and got away with a 2-1 win thanks to a short-handed goal in the third period. While veteran forward Claude Giroux might have had reasons to celebrate the victory, he quickly found out upon leaving the Canadian Tire Centre that his car had been stolen.

His wife, Ryanne Giroux, posted the news on social media, asking for anyone’s help seeing that she has been unable to get a hold of Ottawa police. She also stated that the car was still on the move.

“looking for other suggestions/to hear from other people in Ontario who have sadly had to deal with this recently.”

Giroux came to Ottawa to end his career on a high note in his hometown. Last year, in his second season with the Senators after signing with them as a free agent, Giroux put up 21 goals and 64 points in 82 games.

A few hours later, Ryanne Giroux posted an update on the situation, after finally being able to report the crime. She explained how Claude Giroux did contact the police when he first realized that his car had been stolen, but did not want to make it an emergency. She wrote:

"thank you for all your help!

police have been notified

@28CGiroux did initially call 911 but after initial conversation we weren’t sure it was an “emergency”… we did end up calling 911 again to report."
