Canucks react to horrific tragedy in Vancouver this weekend.
The Vancouver Canucks speak out after an awful tragedy over the weekend.
The City of Vancouver woke up to shock on Sunday morning as news quickly circulated about a horrific event on Saturday night that has claimed the lives of many of that city's citizens.
Although the details are still not fully clear at the time of this writing, what we do know is that an unidentified man drove his vehicle into a crowd of people during a Lapu Lapu Day festival in the city of Vancouver, with Vancouver police confirming early on Sunday morning that at least 9 individuals have lost their lives.
The Vancouver Canucks also released a statement of their own on Sunday morning, reacting to the terrible tragedy in their city:
We are heartbroken by the tragic events that occurred tonight at the Lapu Lapu Day celebration.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted, including Vancouver's Filipino community. We extend our deepest condolences and support during this unimaginably difficult time.
Lapu Lapu Day is a day of celebration in the Filipino community that honors Filipino Chieftain Datu Lapu-Lapu who is best know for his heroic actions in the Battle of Mactan in 1521, a battle in which he defeated the Spanish forces led by Ferdinand Magellan at the time.
We at Hockey Feed would like to extend our most sincere condolences to anyone that has suffered as a result of this tragedy.
