Canucks/Leafs game on HNIC in danger of being cancelled.
The Vancouver Canucks have been put in a tough spot, one that puts tonight's game in jeopardy.
The Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs are set to clash in a huge all Canadian matchup on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night, but the Vancouver Canucks have now left some doubts about whether or not that matchup will happen at all and what kind of condition the Canucks will be in if it does indeed transpire.
The Canucks played on Friday night against the Carolina Hurricanes in a game where the Canucks found themselves shutout by the Hurricanes who took the game by a score of 0-2. As if coming into the second game of a back to back off of a loss wasn't enough however, the Canucks were also unable to travel to Toronto last night as originally scheduled.
According to comments made by Canucks insider Ian Macintyre, the team was originally scheduled to take a 2 hour flight to Toronto out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport last night, but as a result of bad weather conditions dozens of flights from that airport were forced to be cancelled. That will now leave the Canucks with the need to travel on game day, that is assuming of course that the bad weather conditions have calmed down enough to allow travel.
Of course if the Canucks are unable to travel today the game will have to be cancelled, although I suspect the team will find a window in which to make the flight at some point today. Having to travel on gameday is less than ideal for a professional sports team however and there's no telling just how close to game time that flight will be if the Canucks do indeed make it out to Toronto today.
I wouldn't be surprised if any delays are announced to today's game as a result of the Canucks less than ideal travel situation, but you'll have to stay tuned for any potential updates in that regard.
