Canadiens confirm first major injury of the season.

Montreal Canadiens have confirmed that one of their goaltenders will be going under the knife for surgery.

We are still in the extremely early stages of the National Hockey League season, with NHL rookie camps officially underway across the league, but despite this the Montreal Canadiens have already confirmed a significant injury.

On Saturday, the Canadiens officially announced that rookie goaltender Quentin Miller would be undergoing surgery to repair damage to his right shoulder. Miller suffered the injury during a game between the Rimouski Oceanic and the Chicoutimi Sagueneens this past Saturday.

Obviously this is a big and unfortunate setback for Miller who was no doubt looking forward to showcasing his skills during rookie camp. Miller was selected in the 4th round (128th overall) of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft by the Canadiens.

Miller was having far and away the best season of his young career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League prior to suffering the injury. In 15 appearances for the Oceanic he recorded a 2.60 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.

The Canadiens have already announced a replacement for Miller at rookie camp, with an invite being extended to undrafted goaltender Matteo Drobac.

Drobac most recently appeared in 52 games for the Ontario Hockey League's Hamilton Bulldogs, recording a 3.27 goals against average and a .882 save percentage over that stretch of play.

I wish Miller a full and speedy recovery from this rather unfortunately timed injury.
