Canadian MPs from all major parties call for immediate resignation of Hockey Canada staff
The Liberals, Conservatives and NDP all come together for once.

Questioning from Canadian Members of Parliament (MPs) of Hockey Canada lawyers and executives continued today and... well... frankly there were just some astonishing statements made by Hockey Canada.
Earlier this year it was uncovered that Hockey Canada used child registration fees to create a "slush fund" of cash to pay off alleged victims of sexual abuse, and just yesterday The Globe and Mail uncovered the fact that Hockey Canada actually had an additional such account.
Hockey Canada defended that account stating that it represents a larger problem with society and not a problem from within hockey culture or Hockey Canada itself. Hockey Canada then doubled down stating that media had mis-characterized its handling of sexual assault allegations, calling them "unduly cynical attacks". In other words: Hockey Canada is pulling the "Fake News" card.
Even worse, Canadian Hockey League president Dan MacKenzie admitted under oath yesterday that Hockey Canada has stopped trying to determine which players from the 2018 World Junior team have been implicated in allegations. In MacKenzie's own words, "the matter is now settled" without knowing who or what was even done.
Given ALL of this, Canadian Minister for Sport Pascale St-Onge called yesterday for Hockey Canada's executive staff to resign immediately:
Today, things got even wilder with Hockey Canada’s Chair of the Board of Directors Andrea Skinner making some absolutely ridiculous statements in her testimony to MPs.
Just check out some of these statements:
“Regrettably, toxic behavior exists throughout society. No segment of society is immune. Suggesting that toxic behavior is somehow a specific hockey problem or to scapegoat hockey as a centerpiece for toxic culture is, in my opinion, counterproductive to finding solutions.”
- Andrea Skinner
Right... but we're not talking about toxic behavior in society... we're talking about very specific allegations made against players who were under your supervision as an organization.
More from Skinner:
“Our board frankly does not share the view that senior leadership should be replaced on the basis of what we consider to be substantial misinformation and unduly cynical attacks. Hockey Canada has an excellent reputation.”
- Andrea Skinner
An excellent reputation with who? The rapists whom they cover up for? Give me a break...
And here's perhaps the worst, most ridiculous statement of all. When asked what would happen if Hockey Canada were to fire its executive staff, Skinner wondered if youth/minor hockey would even continue in the country.
Check it out:
"Will the lights stay on in the rinks? I don't know."
- Andrea Skinner
What the Hell are you on, lady? You have the hubris to think that hockey in Canada won't continue if some old dinosaurs are finally forced into retirement? Come off it.
The fact is that hockey will ALWAYS exist in Canada because it's our passion, our heritage and our national game. Hockey IN Canada will ALWAYS be more important than some corporation that bears its name.
It's no surprise that MPs from all of the country's major political parties are calling for Hockey Canada's executive staff to resign:
