Oh boy this is not the start that Canada wanted on Sunday.

Only 11 seconds into their contest against Germany on Sunday, the Canadians find themselves dropping from 12 forwards in their lineup to just 11 after Connor Geekie was ejected from the game. Geekie has been tossed after delivering a high hit to Germany's Samuel Schindler, and after review Geekie was awarded both a 5 minute major penalty and a game misconduct for his infraction on the play.

Here's a look at the hit that led to him being ejected:

Geekie delivered what looked like a textbook bodycheck with his knees bent and shoulders tucked, but the sheer size difference between the two men resulted in Schindler's head absorbing the brunt of the impact. It was for this reason that the International Ice Hockey Federation's officials, which follow stricter international rules when it comes to hitting, awarded Geekie the misconduct.

Geekie was furious at the call on the ice and protested with the officials, and he didn't look much happier moments later when he was forced to watch the remainder of the game from the bleechers.
