You could not have scripted it any better. The final game of the 4 nations tournament went to overtime between Team USA and Team Canada, and none other than Connor McDavid played the country’s hero, scoring at 8:18 of overtime as Canada defeated the United States 3-2 in a riveting showdown.

McDavid as named game MVP, while Nathan MacKinnon was named tournament MVP.

The boys, led by captain Sidney Crosby, hoisted the trophy and partied in the dressing room.

Now that they all go back to their respective NHL teams, one Canadian player thought it would be appropriate to start a group chat to keep in touch with his fellow champions.

Of course that’s a shot at Team USA, who had bragged during the tournament about being close and having a group, in which the Tkachuk brothers had planned the three consecutive fights against Team Canada in their first game on Saturday.

This had prompted Team Canada’s Brandon Hagel to say that Canada has no group chats or anything to plan what they’re going to do when facing the Americans. He added that he’s playing for the Canadian flag and not to make good television.

And so on Friday morning, he thought now was the best time to start a group chat with the rest of the Canadian team, per Sportsnet's Luke Fox:

I mean, come on, that’s just hilarious. They deserve a good laugh.
