The Calgary Flames have their sights set on a key figure in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization.

The Calgary Flames are looking for a new general manager to take over after former Flames general manager Brad Treliving and the team mutually agreed to part ways just a few weeks ago, and it sounds like they may be targeting some of their Canadian rivals for potential candidates.

Now we've all heard the rumors of Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas being linked to a variety of teams around the NHL, but in the case of the Calgary Flames they may actually have someone else in mind as their target.

On Monday morning, National Hockey League insider Frank Seravalli revealed that the Flames intend to pursue permission to speak with Maple Leafs assistant general manager Brandon Pridham. Although Pridham isn't a household name when it comes to your average hockey fan, he has quickly established himself as one of hockey's brilliant minds during his tenure within the Maple Leafs organization and is considered by many to be the foremost expert when it comes to the NHL's collective bargaining agreement.

Pridham has been credited many times with some of the cap wizardry the Maple Leafs have executed over the last few seasons to remain under the cap at a difficult period in NHL history, so it comes as no surprise that he is now being viewed as a potential candidate for an even bigger role.

This now adds one more wrinkle the Maple Leafs will have to deal with in what is already expected to be a very turbulent offseason. Stay tuned for more details on this developing story.
