Brutal reason why goalie Logan Thompson didn’t make Team Canada exposed!
The goalie was not chosen by Team Canada for 4 Nations Face-Off and we finally why. Find out the full story below:
Canada’s 4 Nations Face-Off roster was announced in early December and many fans and pundits were stunned that Washington Capitals goalie Logan Thompson had not been chosen.
Thompson had a feeling he was not going to make the team when he had yet to receive a call from Canadian team management. Then, the roster was made official and the Caps’ netminder was not on it. Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues, Adin Hill of the Vegas Golden Knights and Sam Montembeault of the Montreal Canadiens are the three goalies on Canada’s roster.
On Wednesday, Steve Valiquette explained to Nick Kypreos and Justin Bourne why Thompson was ignored by Team Canada and it has all to do with his relationship with ‘personalities at the top’:
“I don’t think Cassidy and DeBoer were gonna have it…that was never gonna happen”.
Valiquette then added that both did not have a great experience with Thompson in Vegas.
Bruce Cassidy, Pete DeBoer and were named Canada assistant coaches for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off from Feb. 12-20 in Montreal and Boston. They will join Jon Cooper (Tampa Bay Lightning), who was named coach June 25.
Thompson won a Stanley Cup with Hill and the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023 before being acquired by the Capitals on June 29, 2024, in exchange for two third-round picks.
He is currently third in wins behind only Vezina Trophy-favourite Connor Hellebuyck and Jake Oettinger, while boasting a career-best .923 save percentage and 2.18 goals-against average.
