Bruins send former first round pick to waivers on Saturday.

The Boston Bruins have sent several players to waivers, including a former first round pick.

We have another big day of waivers in the National Hockey League with the season now just 3 days away from officially getting underway.

There are a number of teams active on waivers today including the Boston Bruins, the Buffalo Sabres, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Colorado Avalanche, the Edmonton Oilers, the Los Angeles Kings, the New Jersey Devils, the Nashville Predators, and the Seattle Kraken.

It may be the Bruins who get the most attention today however with former first round pick Jakub Zboril being among the names they have placed on waivers. The 26 year old defenseman has only appeared in 76 NHL games since being drafted 13th overall at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and this would appear to be an indication that the Bruins are prepared to give up on him.

Zboril's cap hit of $1,137,500 is above the league minimum which may make teams reluctant to claim him, but teams with cap space looking for a possible reclamation project could consider him an option prior to the start of the regular season.

He is just one of many names on waivers today however, here is the complete list:

Jesper Boqvist (BOS)
Oskar Steen (BOS)
Jakub Zboril (BOS)
