Bruins miss out on acquiring top Patrice Bergeron replacement
Another blow to the Bruins.

The Boston Bruins team that won an NHL-record 65 games during the 2022-23 NHL season has lost plenty of assets over the summer, both in the forms of retirement and trades as well as in free-agency.
Gone are the likes of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci to retirement, while Tyler Bertuzzi, Dmitri Orlov and Connor Clifton have all signed elsewhere. Meanwhile, both Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno were shipped to the Chicago Blackhawks.
And while it was thought that the Bruins could be eying a key replacement for Bergeron in the form of forward Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets, it apparently will not be coming to pass, according to a recently released report.
The hits just keep on coming for the Bruins, who are going to be looking radically different when they hit the ice this fall.
Scheifele scored a career high 42 goals during the 2022-23 regular season for the Jets, who were bounced in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the eventual champion Vegas Golden Knights, and is thought of to be on the trading block in Winnipeg.
