The Boston Bruins had forward Mark Kastelic go down to injury early during a clash against the St, Louis Blues.

This is the last thing that a struggling Boston Bruins needed to see on Saturday.

The Bruins have lost the services of forward Mark Kastelic, who has played a significant role for them this season, after the 25 year old centerman was injured against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. Although it remains unclear what exactly transpired to knock Kastelic out of the game, what I can tell you is that the Bruins have confirmed the fact that he has suffered a lower body injury and will not be returning to today's game as a result of that injury.

It is unclear exactly when Kastelic suffered the injury although some have speculated that it may have been the result of a hip check he received along the boards during the final minute of the first period. While that may very well turn out to be the case, it is difficult to tell for certain due to the fact that Kastelic remained on the ice and continued to play out his shift following the hit. Although he did show some clear discomfort immediately following the hit, that did not appear to limit him during the remainder of his shift.

We will likely have to wait until the end of the game to see if head coach Jim Montgomery has anything more conclusive to share in his post game comments.

Kastelic had appeared in all 18 of the Bruins games thus far this season, scoring 3 goals and adding 4 assists for a total of 7 points on the campaign. He also has 24 penalty minutes and a plus minus rating of +6 on the season thus far.

Update: Montgomery reporting that Kastelic will be "day to day."
