Bruins give up on local product Oliver Wahlstrom
Looks like his time with the spiked-B is over.
This just in, the Boston Bruins have placed forward Oliver Wahlstrom on waivers.
The Portland, Maine product has just one goal and two points in 16 games with the Bruins after being claimed off of waivers from the New York Islanders earlier this season.
It was a bit of a homecoming for Wahlstrom when the Bruins claimed him. He grew up in Cumberland, ME and played a season with Boston College before being drafted by the Islanders 11th overall back in 2018.
The 24 year old forward went viral at a Bruins game when he was just 9 years old, scoring a 'lacrosse style' goal during an intermission segment in 2009.
Remember this?
Unfortunately for him, that's about his only highlight at TD Garden...
The 24 year old will report to the AHL's Providence Bruins if he doesn't clear waivers, but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if another team gives him a look. He has shown flashes of skill over the course of his career and he has good size at 6'2", 205 lbs. Again, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a new opportunity.
