Bruce Cassidy has guided the Vegas Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup Final in his first season behind the bench in Sin City, but before the fun begins on Saturday night, he took a moment to issue an apology for a remark he made last week.
Following the Golden Knights dropping Game 5 of their Western Conference Final series against the Dallas Stars, Cassidy sarcastically said that his team's giveaways wouldn't be good enough in an overall effort to try and beat the Arizona Coyotes.
“We had 24 giveaways," Cassidy said after Game 5. "I'm not sure you're beating the Arizona Coyotes in January with 24 giveaways. That's no disrespect to Arizona, but it's not the right way to play.”
The Coyotes did in fact beat the Golden Knights earlier this season, a 4-1 win at Mullett Arena that saw Vegas commit only two turnovers.
But now, Cassidy regrets the remark and apologized.
"It was disrespectful," he said. "It was a dumb thing to say about puck management, to bring another team in."
Do you think that Cassidy was out of line by throwing a jab at the Coyotes?
