Breaking: Maple Leafs star missing from practice.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were without one of their top forwards during Saturday's morning skate.
The Toronto Maple Leafs appear to have lost one of their top stars to injury.
Although there has been no official announcement as of yet, notably absent from the Maple Leafs morning skate on Saturday morning is forward Mitch Marner. The Maple Leafs have all hit the ice but Marner is nowhere to be seen, leading to speculation that he will be out of the lineup when the Maple Leafs clash with the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.
Marner took a nasty fall against the Boston Bruins earlier in the week, and that may very well be the reason behind his absence today.
Marner is of course one of the more dynamic parts of the Maple Leafs offense and this season has been no exception. The 26 year old winger has 25 goals and 51 assists for a total of 76 points through just 62 games this season, and he will be all but impossible to replace in the lineup during his absence.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe will likely have an update after the morning skate, stay tuned for more details.
