National Hockey League legend Jaromir Jagr has received a shocking offer, one that may indicate that his NHL career is coming close to an end.
On Monday the Florida Everblades of the ECHL officially extended an offer to Jagr for the 2017-2018 season, they have also released the following statement via their official website:
“We believe this deal makes sense for both sides,” said Everblades Public Relations Manager & Broadcaster Alex Reed. “Jaromir will have the opportunity to continue to play the game that he loves, while remaining in the tropical paradise of South Florida. From the team side, well that’s obvious. Just imagine watching number 68 skate on Germain Arena ice, with his long hair flowing behind him. The whole thing just gives us chills.”
It's clear that Reed and the rest of the Everblades organization views this as a golden opportunity to market their product, and rightfully so, but troubling for fans of Jagr is the fact that the Everblades seemingly believe they have a realistic chance of acquiring him.
“The NHL’s loss could become our gain,” said Reed. “He is a high-end player who wants to win, and that kind of mindset fits in well with our winning tradition.”
That being said if Jagr were to take the offer from the Everblades it sounds like he would not only get to play the sport he loves at a professional level, but could even be doing so in style.
“We are definitely open to a ‘Weekend Warrior’ contract for Jaromir,” said Reed. “He could make the easy 90-minute drive across Alligator Alley and just play in our Friday and Saturday home games. Heck, we will even send an intern to personally pick him up and drive him over if necessary.”
