Hockey Player and Movie STAR Commits Suicide at 35
As reported by TMZ, Michael Mantenuto Killed himself Monday in Washington State. The official news released came in this morning.
Mantenuto is a former Maine hockey player but is mainly known as the guy who played Jack O’Callahan in the popular hockey movie MIRACLE. Miracle tells the story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic men’s ice hockey team’s come-from-behind victory over the heavily favored Soviet Union, a game known as the Miracle on Ice.
He played for the University of Main during his younger years. On Monday, he “was found dead in his car by police in Des Moines. WA. The coroner tells TMZ… Michael committed suicide by shooting himself.”
“Those of you that knew Mike will remember him for his passionate love for his family and his commitment to the health of the force,” the official Des Moines Police Department release said.
