Breaking: Calgary Flames have a new general manager!
An NHL insider is reporting that the Calgary Flames have selected their new general manager.
The Calgary Flames' search for a general manager appears to have come to an end.
According to a report from National Hockey League insider Darren Dreger, the Calgary Flames are set to name Craig Conroy as their next general manager. Conroy was rumored to be among the favorites for the role but the Flames also brought in external candidates last week that included big names such as Dave Nonis, Stan Bowman and Marc Bergevin.
Conroy is a former NHL player in his own right having played in over 1000 NHL games during his career as a player and most recently he served as assistant general manager in the Flames organization under now former Flames general manager Brad Treliving. Conroy seemed to many to be a natural successor to Treliving and it appears that, after a thorough GM search, the Flames have agreed with that assessment as well.
