Brandon Carlo scores for his newborn son!
What an incredible day it was for the Bruins defenseman!
To say that it's been an incredible 24 hours for Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo would be a severe understatement.
It seemed unclear whether or not he'd be able to make his team's Game 1 matchup against the Florida Panthers in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoff, as his wife Mayson was giving birth to their second child, a boy named Crew. But thankfully, he was able to make it back to Florida just in time for the critical game, and even scored a goal late in the 2nd period.
"I'm so thankful, so proud of my wife," Carlo said. "I'm really thankful for the Bruins, the Jacobs [family] as well for how they handled the situation. It was incredible, the support that they gave me."
His teammates were certainly happy for him, as shown by the video posted by the Bruins depicting them welcoming him back to the lineup upon his arrival along with after his goal that gave them a 3-1 lead.
"I don't celebrate often, but I raised my hands with that one," said goaltender Jeremy Swayman. "It's so incredible what he did today and just the attitude that he brought. He was so excited."
"I can only imagine what it's like, leaving your little one and your wife at home right after," Swayman added. "Mayson's a big part of this team, too, because of that: allowing him to come and be here, and supporting him."
