Brandon Carlo goes to war with Jeff Malott in his first fight as a Toronto Maple Leaf.

This is certainly one way to endear yourself to your new teammates.

On Saturday night, recently acquired Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Brandon Carlo showed some of the edge that made him such a desirable commodity ahead of the trade deadline, dropping the gloves after a brief exchange in front of the net.

It would be Los Angeles Kings forward Jeff Malott that would serve as Carlo's dance partner in this one with both men engaging in some pushing and shoving in front of the net before they both happily dropped the gloves. This one was one hell of an exchange with both men landing some heavy shots as they traded blows back and forth, although you could argue that Mallot got the better of the exchanges given the damage he did to Carlo's face.

In the aftermath of the scrap between the two men, Carlo could be seen clearly leaking from the bridge of his nose as a streak of crimson leaked down his nose and across his face. Much to his credit though, Carlo didn't seem to mind one bit as he was smiling from ear to ear in the penalty box, and the same can be said of Mallot himself.

In fact, in spite of the fact that only seconds earlier they had been trying to take one another's head off, Mallot and Carlo seemed to be yucking it up in the penalty box with both men bursting out in laughter as they exchanged words with one another after their battle on the ice.
