Brady Tkachuk gets crucial injury update before Senators-Maple Leafs series
The latest news has Ottawa fans crossing their fingers… and toes! Full details below:
Everyone claims that Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk is made for the playoffs and technically we would get to see that side of him for the first time in a couple of days. However, it is still not a hundred percent sure that Tkachuk, who has not played since March 30, will dress for Game 1 of the first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Things are however trending in the right direction as team insider Bruce Garrioch has reported that “A decision on Brady Tkachuk will be made Thursday. Will likely be available to play. That decision is TBD.”
Senators head coach Travis Green strongly believes his captain will be ready for the first game of the Battle of Ontario after Tkachuk practice in a non-contact jersey on Monday and missed his eighth consecutive game on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks. Tkachuk was injured back on March 30 when he sustained an upper-body injury from a hit by Pittsburgh Penguins’ Ryan Graves.
The star forward leads Ottawa with 29 goals and is tied for third on the team with 55 points in 71 games. The Senators needs him in the postseason, especially if, as many insiders and pundits claims, it is tailor made for him.
There is no doubt that the series between the Senators and Maple Leafs will be an intense one in the first round. Toronto goalie Anthony Stolarz has already said it will be a bloodbath.
Ottawa needs Tkachuk back in the fold for this one.
