Brad Marchand sends a warning ahead of 4 Nations Face Off.
Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand has a warning ahead of the 4 Nations Face Off.
The 4 Nations Face Off is going to be an incredibly interesting tournament and it is now only just a little over a month away. For many players in the National Hockey League it will be their first chance to represent their home country on the international stage, something many of those players have dreamed of their whole lives, and you can bet that many of those players will be trying to win glory for their home nations by any means neccessary.
Over the weekend that was all but confirmed by Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand, who will be representing his home country of Canada at the tournament, when Marchand sent an ominous warning ahead of the tournament. Marchand was asked about the level of physicality he was expecting at the tournament and, fresh off the heels of Canada suffering an embarrassing series of losses at the World Junior Championship, Marchand made it clear that no punches would be pulled.
"Guys are going to be out for blood," said the Bruins captain.
Marchand also admitted that he expects fierce competition from all of the nations that will be represented at the tournament, with the veteran National Hockey League forward suggesting that the outcome of the competition is nearly impossible to predict.
"You look at the teams that are match up and they're all stacked," said Marchand. "You can pick out of a hat who can win that tournament. They're all incredible groups."
Marchand also knows that the pressure is on for Canada after suffering an embarrassing and recent defeat on the international stage.
"Extremely high expectations," admitted Marchand. "You want to make your country and your team proud."
With the tournament being hosted in both Boston and Montreal Marchand also added, rather amusingly, that he is looking forward to not being booed by the crowd at the Bell Centre in Montreal. You can hear Marchand's full comments in the short clip below:
