Brad Marchand’s teammate takes brutal shot at him after scoring his first goal as Panther
There is always a bit of truth in jokes right? And there are a lot of them about Marchand in the Panthers’ dressing room. Read below:
On Thursday night, forward Brad Marchand recorded his first goal as a member of the Florida Panthers in a 4-1 win over the visiting Detroit Red Wings. It was the first time Marchand found the back of the net since he was traded in a shocking move from the Boston Bruins at the March 7 deadline. Marchand was playing in his eighth game for Florida.
Marchand’s goal gave the Panthers a 3-1 lead on the way to a 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
After the game, reporters asked his teammates about the goal, and Evan Rodrigues did not flinch and immediately took a shot at Marchand.
“It sucks. I wasn’t happy for him. He’s a rat,” he simply said to media members in the dressing room.
Marchand also explained why he understands Rodrigues’ not being happy with his first goal on the team, saying:
“He’s not wrong. I’ve hated him. We skated together in the summer and I’ve hated him for a long time, so that’s not going to change now.”
Let’s be honest, I do not think neither Rodrigues nor Marchand was being serious. It is clear that there is some fun banter going around in the Panthers’ dressing room, one of the many good things that Marchand brings to the defending Stanley Cup champions.
I am sure that’s something the Bruins and their entire locker room misses about Marchand being gone.
