Bobby Ryan makes Red Wings history after just 3 games with his new team
Pretty incredible. Bobby Ryan might end up being the offseason's best free agent signing.

Don't look now but Bobby Ryan is back, baby!
The former Anaheim Ducks and Ottawa Senators star was, of course, bought out of his contract by the Sens this past offseason and was signed to a one year, $1 million deal by the Detroit Red Wings. And now Ryan is once again proving that he can be an elite level scorer in the NHL if put in the right circumstances. The 33 year old, former 2nd overall draft pick has four goal in his first three games with the Red Wings, establishing a new record with the team in the process.

That's pretty remarkable when you think of all the legendary players who have worn the Winged Wheel. And I'm not talking about Red Wings lifers like Steve Yzerman, Gordie Howe, Sergei Fedorov and Niklas Lidstrom. Those guys arrived on the scene in Detroit as rookies and were always going to take awhile to get acclimated. But if you think of the veteran players who have suited up for the Red Wings over the years, it's incredible that no one else has come close to matching Bobby Ryan's immediate impact on the team. I'm talking about Hall of Famers like Igor Larianov, Chris Chelios, Luc Robitaille, Brett Hull and Brendan Shanahan. None of them came close to matching Bobby Ryan's production in his first few games with the team.
Here's hoping that the veteran forward puts together a good season and remains with the team long-term. He's certainly proving that he has a lot to give to an organization on the rise.
