If you're not watching this evening's tilt between the New York Rangers and Calgary Flames, do yourself a favor and flip it on. The two desperate teams are throwing everything they can at each other in a very fast paced and physical game thus far.
And, while it's been a chippy affair since the puck dropped, things went to another level when Rangers forward Sammy Blais ROCKED Flames forward Milan Lucic with a neutral zone hit. Blais gets awfully close to nailing Lucic with a head shot and things go completely off the rails.
Check it out:
The play was reviewed for an illegal hit to the head, but Blais managed to get off scot free. In fact, Lucic earned himself the extra two minutes with an instigator penalty.
I get the impression that Lucic's reputation may have worked against him on this one because that looks a lot like a blindside hit to me. Thoughts?
