Auston Matthews hits the 60 goal mark... again.
Toronto Maple Leafs star forward Auston Matthews has hit the 60 goal mark for the second time in his NHL career.
The Toronto Maple Leafs superstar forward has done it again.
On Saturday night, Auston Matthews became only the 9th player in the history of the National Hockey League to hit the 60 goal plateau in multiple seasons.
Matthews would record the goal against the Buffalo Sabres after coming up short on a few chances that came very close during the course of the game. Matthews would eventually make good on number 60 after a shot from teammate Conor Timmins from near the blue line would bounce off of Matthews' skate.
Matthews was able to quickly recover the puck and put it on his stick, firing off a shot into a wide open net for number 60.
There was no hiding the elation on the face of the Maple Leafs star, with Matthews smiling from ear to ear for several long moments after the goal.
Matthews would however quickly regain his focus however as he attempted to add to his total during the final minutes of tonight's game. Matthews would fail to do so, but it's clear he won't be satisfied with simply reaching 60.
