Arber Xhekaj gets jumped by 2 players, somehow gets a penalty.

Canadiens enforcer Arber Xhekaj winds up in the penalty box after being jumped by Flyers on Sunday.

Fans of the Montreal Canadiens are up in arms over this one and, if I'm being perfectly honest, I find it a little difficult to blame them given the circumstances.

It looked like the first period between the Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday night would treat us to a pretty exciting fight when Canadiens enforcer Arber Xhekaj and Flyers captain Sean Couturier dropped the gloves, but unfortunately it would never come to pass.

It looked like Couturier and Xhekaj were both willing combatants, but out of nowhere Flyers defenseman Nick Seeler would charge in and throw a punch at an unsuspecting Xhekaj. What initially looked like a 1 on 1 exchange quickly turned into a 2 on 1 situation, one that was short lived as the blindside punch from Seeler would knock Xhekaj down to the ice.

The officials would quickly fall upon all 3 men to break up the altercation, but they then made the rather surprising decision of awarding the Flyers a power play as a result of the incident. Not only had Couturier been the first man to drop the gloves, but the additional inclusion of Seeler into the mix seemed like a situation that should result in a powerplay for the Canadiens, or at the very least a pair of offsetting penalties.

Fans in Montreal were robbed of an exciting fight and left to scratch their heads at why their team was penalized, and that makes it very easy for me to understand why they are feeling so frustrated.
