Another Rangers player calls out Peter Laviolette publicly

The crew is turning on the ship's captain, with the player saying that he's “rotting away”.

According to a report from New York Rangers insider Larry Brooks, yet another member of the team's defensive corps is unhappy with head coach Peter Laviolette.

Blueliner Zac Jones has been a frequent scratch this season, playing just 26 games following a season where he managed just 31 games total. Now, he is publicly stating that his situation "f***ing sucks" and that he feels like he's "rotting away" on the Rangers' roster.

"I'm just generally a pretty easygoing, happy person," Jones said to Brooks. "And no matter what is going on in my life, I'm gonna try and come to the rink with a smile on my face... But it f***ing sucks.''

When it was pointed out to Jones that former Rangers forward Kaapo Kakko was traded just one day after publicly complaining about being scratched, Jones smiled and replied, "I'm not trying to pull a Kaapo here."

Laviolette was told about Jones' frustration and responded, "It's okay to be frustrated. I'm perfectly fine with that. Everybody wants to play. You get to this level, everyone wants in. They want to play. And I'm okay with that."

I dunno... Pete... it sounds like your crew is turning on you pretty quickly here.

Something's got to give in NYC, right?

Read below for our earlier Rangers report on goaltender Igor Shesterkin.

According to a report from New York Rangers insider Mollie Walker, the Rangers will be without the services of superstar goaltender Igor Shesterkin for an indeterminate time due to an upper body injury.

More from Rangers insider Arthur Staple:

The New York Rangers are placing Igor Shesterkin on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, a league source said Tuesday, adding more misery to the team’s nosedive to the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings over the last five weeks.

Shesterkin, who signed an eight-year extension worth $ 11.5 million per season on Dec. 8, finished the 5-3 loss to the Panthers in Florida on Monday after being barreled over by Panthers forward Sam Bennett in the third period. Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren knocked Bennett into Shesterkin, who was slow to get up but stayed in the game.

All I can say is... when it rains, it pours.
