Another controversial goalie interference call that changes the game!
This time in Game 1 of the Eastern conference final:
Everyone’s favourite thing in hockey… In the third period of Game 1 of the Eastern conference final, the Florida Panthers went up 2-0 on an Oliver Ekman-Larsson’s goal from the top of the left circle.
However, Ryan Lomberg was in the crease as the puck was flying in and he was cross-checked by Rangers’ Ryan Lindgren into his own goalie Igor Shesterkin, though the Panthers’ forward had a bit of contact first on the netminder, within the blue paint of the crease.
The Rangers immediately challenged this one for goalie interference.
After review, the goal was overturned and the game is back 1-0 for Florida. When the The no-goal announcement was the loudest cheer there’s been all period, maybe all game in New York City.
The call causes, once again, some controversy on social, with most fans and pundits stating the obvious: we don’t know what’s goalie interference anymore!
