Patrick Kane has been looking real good while rehabbing from hip resurfacing surgery he underwent in June.
But not so fast. There have been so many rumours linking the free agent to different contenders lately that his agent, Pat Brisson, provided an update to Pierre LeBrun on where his client stands. LeBrun shared the update on last night’s Insider Trading on TSN and let’s just say fans better wait before betting on Kane’s next destination:
“I reached out to his agent Pat Brisson on this day and he said “he’s progressing very well” as to where Kane was. Everything is still in the right direction for him to be medically cleared at some point in early-to-mid November.
"Until then, Brisson doesn’t want to start entertaining conversations with teams. They want to get him cleared or close to cleared before they go back and re-engage with teams. About a dozen teams reached out on July 1 to ask to be kept in the loop and several teams have stayed in touch. It’s all on pause until Kane is medically cleared."
Several teams, including the Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers and New York Rangers have been linked to Kane since this summer.
Kane is looking to join a Stanley Cup contender in order to get another shot at the championship before retirement and may have a better idea in a few weeks on which teams stand a better chance.
Pat Brisson could provide another update then and we’ll see which contender has become a front-runner.
