Alex Nedeljkovic scores goalie goal and makes NHL history!
Alex Nedeljkovic makes history as he scores a near picture perfect goalie goal on Friday night.
An epic reaction from Sidney Crosby, a goalie goal and even a piece of hockey history.
Needless to say it was a big night and an even bigger moment for Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic who was no doubt the big star of the night on Friday night. Nedeljkovic would record the first ever goal of his National Hockey League career on Friday night against the Buffalo Sabres and boy was it ever a beauty.
Nedeljkovic not only had great form when it came to his shot, but he took a body check behind the net to make it happen and created his own version of the Lambeau Leap on the Penguins visitors' bench in the process. Here's a look at how he scored the goal:
Perhaps even better than the goal itself however was the reaction from Penguins captain Sidney Crosby as he realized the puck was going to go into the net.
This wasn't any goalie goal from Nedeljkovic either with his particular goalie goal now going down in the record books for three different reasons. The first is that Nedeljkovic now becomes the first goaltender in hockey history to have recorded a goal at the ECHL, American Hockey League and NHL levels.
Additionally Nedeljkovic is also the first goaltender in NHL history to have accomplished the feat while also having a 40+ save performance during the very same game.
The third is that Nedeljkovic is also the first goalie in NHL history to record both a goal and an assist in the same game, which makes quite a bit of hockey history for a single moment in time.
A well deserved celebration and moment for Nedeljkovic who was obviously overwhelmed with excitement as it all went down.
