Veteran National Hockey League forward Alex Chiasson now has just 9 days to find himself a new team.

On Sunday, reports began to surface suggesting that Chiasson had been released from the professional tryout offer he signed with the Bruins earlier this summer, an indication that the team will not be offering him an NHL contract prior to the start of the upcoming regular season.

Chiasson has been working out with the Bruins in training camp, but for one reason or another the Bruins do not envision the 33 year old winger in their future plans.

Chiasson, a former 2nd round draft pick (38th overall) at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, now finds himself without an NHL contract with a very short window remaining to secure one prior to the start of the season. He most recently played for the Detroit Red Wings, appearing in just 20 games last season and recording 6 goals and 3 assists for a total of 9 points. Chiasson actually spent the majority of his time last season in the American Hockey League with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Red Wings AHL affiliate.

Chiasson currently has 651 NHL games under his belt in which he has scored 120 goals and added 113 assists for a total of 233 career points thus far, but there is no indication of what will now come next for the veteran forward.
