The trade deadline is approaching and Scott Powers believes the Chicago Blackhawks will find the best trade value in veteran goalie Marc-Andre Fleury ahead of March, 21st.

It is believed the Blackhawks are open to any trade proposals that come their way, though it will come with challenges. Fleury has a 10-team no-trade list and was already unsure about moving his family from Vegas to Chicago. He was convinced to do so and may not be open to move again with just months left on the last year of his contract. But the chance to potentially win another championship before hanging up the pads, Fleury could waive his clause to make a trade happen. Which is why this new contender is interesting.

The Washington Post’s Samantha Pell revealed on Daily Face-Off she believes there’s a greater than 50 percent chance the Capitals could have a new goaltender by the trade deadline. Therefore, she thinks they’re among the teams interested in Fleury.

On Tuesday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman added this to his 32 Thoughts column: "We should prepare ourselves for the possibility of Marc-Andre Fleury, Washington Capital. At the very least, the Capitals are looking into it."

The Caps would need to make room for the netminder as they just over $2 million in projected deadline cap space, which still won’t be enough to take on Fleury without the Blackhawks retaining some of the remainder of his $7 million cap hit.

But could you imagine Fleury getting the chance to play with Alex Ovechkin after a previous run with Sidney Crosby and now with Patrick Kane?

Fun chatter on the trade market!
