3 NHL players who made the 'Nice List' this season.
Three players who deserve some recognition.
If you were to sit down and talk to a hockey fan about professional athletes, many of them would be quick to boast that the sport of hockey has the very best crop of those athletes anywhere in the world. Hockey players have often distinguished themselves in the world of sports as classy, soft spoken, and rarely egotistical and today we will only be reinforcing that belief.
Today we're looking at 3 players who made the 'Nice List' for 2021 and to be perfectly clear there are many other men who could have earned a spot in this year's ranking. We are also not ranking these good deeds in any particular order, but rather just hoping to bring attention to some awesome moments that we feel didn't get enough attention.
Charlie Coyle - Mighty Quinn.
The story of Quinn Waters was one of the most touching of the year for me personally and it is for that reason that I have chosen to include it here. Quinn, who became known as 'Mighty Quinn' to hockey fans, especially those in the Massachusetts area had to undergo a heartbreaking 30 rounds of radiation treatment after being diagnosed with brain cancer for the second time in spite of being only 5 years old.
Charlie Coyle has long had a special bond with Quinn and the Waters family, and this time around he made little Quinn's day by giving him a puck when he was finally healthy enough to attend a Bruins game live.
The best part of it all? You can see Charlie Coyle beaming with joy every time he's asked about Mighty Quinn and his contributions to this wonderful cause.
Mats Zuccarello - Match Mats.
This one may not get a lot of play in North America, but you can bet the citizens of Zucarello's home country of Norway are well aware of his incredible contributions.
For years now the Minnesota Wild forward has been running 'Match Mats' as a part of the Zuccarello Foundation's initiatives. The premise is very simple, every time Zuccarello registers a point in an NHL game he donates 1000 Norwegian krone to support grass roots sports in Norway and with 24 points already through 24 games this season that is going to add up very quickly. That's however is not even the best part
Thanks to the status he has been afforded as an NHL player Zuccarello has also managed to enlist a number of corporate partners to join him in his pledge, and I am happy to report that they have eclipsed even Zuccarello's contributions. Some quick math would tell you he has already donated 24,000 Norwegian krone this season alone, but his corporate partners have made contributions totalling a whopping 432,000 Norwegian krone thus far.

Auston Matthews - Movemeber Campaign.
The Toronto Maple Leafs star has become a big supporter of the Movember movement over the last few years, but this time he truly outdid himself. Not only did Matthews set a bigger goal than he had in the past, he also surpassed that number by putting his own mustache on the line in a hilarious promotion for a very good cause.
Not only did Matthews eclipse his original goal of raising $134,000, it also led to a rather amusing Youtube video that has been seen by surprisingly few people.
