17 year old Justin Blais sends fans a message from hospital after terrifying incident.
A terrible accident led to 17 year old Justin Blais being carted off the ice on a stretcher on Friday.
It would appear that, at least relatively speaking, 17 year old Justin Blais is going to be ok after a terrifying incident on Friday night.
Blais appeared to be seriously injured after smacking his head off of the ice on Friday evening during a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game between the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Blais' Gatineau Olympiques. Blais would fall to the ice after an altercation with the Drakkar's Raoul Boilard but the scariest part was that, after hitting his head on the ice, Blais would go into convulsions and would leave the ice on a stretcher while still convulsing.
As you can imagine fans in attendance were left horrified at what they witnessed on the ice and, in a wise move, the team's decided to call the game then and there with the score already being a very lopsided 8-2 in favor of the Drakkar.
Blais would be taken to hospital for evaluation and it would be from his hospital bed that he would let fans know that he was doing alright, at least relatively speaking, after the scary incident. Blais reached out to all of those supporting him following the injury through his team's official social media accounts, sharing a photo of himself giving a thumbs up while still resting on a hospital bed. Given the angle of the picture shared by the Gatineau Olympiques, I would wager that it was Blais himself who took the selfie style photo from a phone.
There has been no further update on Blais' condition at this time and it remains unclear when he will be eligible to return to the ice, but the important thing is that the young hockey player appears to be ok after what was truly a terrifying incident on the ice this week.
