Zack Kassian signs a professional tryout (PTO) contract

This just in, the Anaheim Ducks have signed veteran NHL forward Zack Kassian to a professional tryout (PTO) contract.

The 32 year old forward put up two goals in 52 games with the Arizona Coyotes last season, a steep decline from his previous campaigns with the Edmonton Oilers. At this point Kassian is purely a depth player even if he manages to secure himself a contract. A more likely scenario is that Kassian helps push the Ducks' young players and prospects at training camp while hoping to secure a league-minimum contract for himself either in Anaheim or somewhere else in the NHL.

If he can get back to his physical ways, throwing the body and intimidating his opponents than he can be a useful player. But if he's unwilling to go to the dirty areas and play with some grit, frankly if he plays like he did last season, then I think his NHL playing days are over.
