And he says he’s a huge Maple Leafs’ fan?!

On Thursday, amongst the many activities linked to the All-Star Weekend in the NHL, former WWE superstar and now AEW wrestler Adam Copeland attended The Celebrity Ball hockey game today at Leafhouse.

He got the chance to meet with some legends of the Toronto Maple Leafs, his favourite club growing up. Copeland was born in Orange, Ontario and has cheered on the Leafs for decades now. During the celebrity contest, he had the chance to meet Curtis “Cujo” Joseph and Darcy Tucker, and the ring superstar felt incredibly grateful for the opportunity, as he expressed on his personal Instagram account after the event.

“As a Leafs fan, kinda big. And I may have dumped in a hat trick(humble brag).”

After the game, Copeland also met with reporters, and one asked him a funny question about which player he would target in a Royal Rumble if he had the chance.

The Royal Rumble is a Pay-Per-View event held annually by the WWE, usually in January, in which 30 wrestlers are assigned a spot in the match at random. The first two participants kick things off, and after 90 seconds another wrestler comes out. That goes on until all competitors have entered the match. To eliminate an opponent, you must toss them over the top rope and both their feet must touch the floor. The only way to win is by being the last person in the ring by the night’s end. The winner is awarded a title match for WWE’s top championship at WrestleMania.

Copeland has been employed by the AEW since 2023 and did not take part in this year’s Royal Rumble in the WWE, but if he had to be in a Rumble with NHL players, he would go after none other than forward Mitch Marner.

The former superstar known as Edge added a little insult, explaining that his pick landed on Marner because “he’d be “slippery.”

That’s just hilarious. Marner in the ring with Copeland, fighting to stay alive in a fight with possibly 28 other men! I’d pay to see that.
