William Lockwood facing suspension for hit on Marc-Andre Fleury.
Florida's William Lockwood has caught the attention of the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety.
William Lockwood has found himself in the crosshairs of the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety.
According to an official announcement on Saturday, Lockwood will have a disciplinary hearing today with the Department of Player Safety following a hit he delivered to Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury on Friday night.
Here is the league's official announcement:
This very likely means that the Florida Panthers' forward will now be facing a suspension for the hit he delivered in last night's game, which is adding up to quite a bit of punishment for Lockwood.
First here's a look at the hit that has landed Lockwood in trouble with the league:
Lockwood would pay a heavy price during the game for his infraction, getting dropped by Brandon Duhaime during the course of the game in retaliation for the hit on Fleury.
A suspension would cost Lockwood both time on the ice as well as actual dollars and we await the NHL's ruling on this matter.
